Step back in time to the glamorous era of the Rat Pack with a visit to the iconic Purple Room in Palm Springs. This legendary establishment holds a rich history as a popular hangout spot for Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and other members of the Rat Pack. Today, it continues to captivate visitors with its retro charm and vibrant atmosphere.
The Purple Room, located in the Club Trinidad Hotel, exudes an air of nostalgia and sophistication. As you step inside, you are instantly transported to a bygone era, where the sounds of swing and jazz filled the air, and the laughter of Hollywood’s elite could be heard echoing through the room.
Originally opened in 1960, the Purple Room was a favored haunt of the Rat Pack, who would gather here for drinks, music, and good company. It was a place where they could relax, unwind, and enjoy the company of fellow entertainers, celebrities, and friends. The walls of the Purple Room hold countless stories and memories of these legendary performers, making it a true treasure trove of Hollywood history.
Today, the Purple Room has been lovingly restored to its former glory, paying homage to its illustrious past while embracing the present. The venue seamlessly combines vintage charm with modern comforts, offering visitors a unique and unforgettable experience. With its stylish décor, dim lighting, and intimate seating, the Purple Room sets the stage for an evening of elegance and entertainment.
One of the main draws of the Purple Room is its live entertainment, which features a variety of acts throughout the week. One standout performance is The Judy Show, a tribute to the legendary Judy Garland. This dazzling showcase celebrates Garland’s incredible talent and timeless music, bringing her spirit and charisma back to life on stage. Audiences can expect stunning vocals, captivating storytelling, and a whole lot of heart.
There is an entertainment line-up every week, so check their event calendar.
Micheal Homes, the owner and lead performer, is the sole of the Purple Room. “First of all, I don’t lip sync, I use my actual singing voice to do impersonations,” he explains. During his nearly 90-minute Judy set, Holmes also impersonates the likes of Mae West, Katharine Hepburn, Billie Holiday, Pearl Bailey, Tallulah Bankhead, Carol Channing and the dame who started it all for him, Miss Bette Davis. “I’m not going out there thinking I am Judy Garland. It’s parody. My whole show is comedy.”
Featuring the valley’s largest rare and small-batch bourbon collection, including flights — more than 200 to sample and enjoy.
