French Miso Café restaurant is the creation of Tomoko Jones and Eric Bovy. The name “French Miso Café” reflects the diversity of their origins. Eric is from the south of France and runs the kitchen and menus. Tomoko is from Japan and manages the dining room. The result is an adorable setting where one can enjoy traditional Japanese and French cuisine at the same table.
The menu will constantly change with selections in season. Here’s an example of what you can expect.
Brunch: Enjoy a variety of eggs benedicts, individual quiche, and omelets. The French Miso toast is made with thick brioche bread and topped with vanilla cream and berries. The Bento includes Shiojake Sockeye salmon, tofu with ginger and shoyu, shiitakes, broccolini, rice and Nori served with a miso soup.
For the vegan, order the vegan toast with vegan ricotta, mini heirloom tomatoes, avocado, and pomegranate molasses.
Miso Dinner Appetizers: Cantaloupe and local fig salad. The Gyoza are Japanese-style dumplings and come in shrimp, pork, or vegetable. If you like mussels, order the PEI mussels. This species of mussels grows all along the Atlantic coastline from the Virginia coastline to the Arctic. It comes with coconut broth, a hint of curry and Thai basil.
Miso Dinner Entrees: There’s an oven roasted miso marinated cod and pan seared stripped bass for the seafood lover. A roasted chicken with potato mousseline and a porcini sauce. Or for the steak lover, the Gilled Rosewood Ranch wagyu flank steak with potatoes, asparagus and béarnaise.
