The soaring roof of Albert Frey's Tramway gas station is a Palm Springs landmark, and home to the Official Palm Springs Visitor Information Center. The iconic soaring roof building welcomes over 200,000 visitors each year from all over the world to discover where to stay, play, shop and dine in Palm Springs. Welwood Murray Memorial Library and Visitors Center Downtown
Recently renovated, the Welwood Murray Memorial Library and Visitors Center Downtown, serves as the City’s downtown Visitor Center as well as a branch of the Palm Springs Library and a research library for the Palm Springs Historical Society. Originally opened in 1941, the center is in a historic building designed by the city’s first resident architect, John Porter Clark. He is also responsible for the design of the city’s iconic City Hall, both of which helped to define the modern architectural style of Palm Springs. The facility contains public computers, a browsing collection of national magazines and daily newspapers, access to historical research and archives managed by the Palm Springs Historical Society, along with community meeting spaces and staff providing tourism information. The Welwood Murray Memorial Library has regular operating hours daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is located at 100 S. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs.
