About

Ingleside Estate, formally known as Ingelside Inn, is hidden behind a row of lush hedges, step inside our Spanish Revival landmark and discover a uniquely private retreat — just steps from downtown Palm Springs, yet tucked away from it all. A relaxed elegance personifies our 30 brass-keyed rooms & suites, and continues across our lush 2.5 acre courtyard and shaded lawn.

The property provides complimentary cruiser bikes and is pet friendly.

Ingleside History

In 1922, the heirs to the Pierce Arrow Motor Company–regarded as the “American Rolls-Royce”–tapped Santa Barbara architect and Spanish Colonial Revival specialist, George Washington Smith, to design this hedged two-acre estate, personified by architectural detailing and antiques that spared no expense. Ingleside arrived in Hollywood social circles as Ruth Hardy’s invitation-only hideaway. Decades later, owner Mel Haber ushered in a 1970s renaissance, restoring and opening the Inn to the public, and adding Melyvn’s restaurant and lounge.

Ingleside Estate Rooms

Ingleside’s 30 unique rooms and villa-style suites tap a fresh romance that also exudes Old Hollywood charm. The hideaway feel is enhanced in select rooms by walled patios and outdoor terraces, while all rooms mix Spanish-style elements like terracotta, dark woods and rich textiles. Designer furnishings, imported linens, and modern baths round out the casita experience.

Estate Guestrooms are a blend of modern amenities with vintage detail, including poster beds dressed in crisp white linens, fringed pillows and velvet accents. Refreshed baths feature hammered brass vanities, and  showers with sage tiles. Essentials are tailored for luxury and leisure, from in-room dining to movie streaming on HDTV.

In the restored heart of the inn, the romantic, breezy Estate Deluxe Rooms channel the Golden Age of leisure with original accents, ebony-stained pine beds, touches of brass, terracotta tiling, and vintage rugs. Club chairs are ready for intimate evenings cozying up with a glass of wine, while French doors offer calming doses of desert air.

The Haber Suite (named after Mel Haber, the owner that made this property famous) is a 2-room, 2-bath casita is tucked away in the northeast corner of the property. Behind iron-strap hinged doors, find a walled courtyard–every bit an outdoor living room–shaded by a scalloped umbrella. Inside, enjoy woven armchairs and a sage velvet sofa for lounging. Glass French doors also open to a bedroom with a king bed and flat screen TV.

For ultimate privacy, the Melvyn’s Suite is serenely tucked in the northeast corner of the property. A courtyard patio with plush outdoor seating is shaded by a scalloped umbrella. Inside the two-room, two-bath villa, lounge on woven armchairs and a pintucked sage velvet sofa. French doors lead to a handsome king bed and flatscreen TV. There’s nothing to disturb you–only rugged mountains and graceful palms as background. Connecting rooms are available to expand the suite.
