Santa Rosa and San Jacinto National Monument provides the picturesque background for the Coachella Valley. The mountains line the desert and in the winter months these peaks are dusted with beautiful white snow. Indian Canyons Indian Canyons is comprised of three individual canyon destinations, Palm Canyon, Andreas Canyon, and Murray Canyon. Palm Canyon is 15 miles long and one of the areas most beautiful areas to explore. The contrasting greens of the magnificent fan palms in Andreas Canyon greet visitors with a lush oases. Murray canyon is an easy to moderate hike and the habitat of big horn sheep, mule deer and other wildlife. Andreas Canyon Joshua Tree National Park Joshua Tree is located about one hour from Palm Springs, where the Mojave and Lower Colorado deserts join to form the park. Begin your tour at a one of the Visitor Centers. There are 12 self-guiding nature trails and on clear days the vista from Keys View extends beyond Salton Sea to Mexico. Join a ranger program, or hike to one of the park’s five palm oases. October through May, call ahead and reserve a spot on the popular Keys Ranch guided walking tour. You can plan an all-day hike into the back- country, or experience the desert from the seat of a mountain bike. Joshua Tree is also a popular rock climbing area.
