The Home Tours provide exclusive access to private residences that have been meticulously preserved or thoughtfully restored to their original splendor. Atomic Ranch at the Kirk Douglas Estate: A Talk & Tour: Atomic Ranch magazine hosts a poolside interview with the owners of The Kirk Douglas Estate, constructed in 1954 by master builder Bob Higgins and designed by none other than Wexler & Harrison. 3 pm Watch A Film Double Feature! BothAlbert Frey Films – Part 1 and Part II: Experience both Albert Frey films with one specially priced ticket. Annenberg Theatre. 9 am FILM – Back to the House of Tomorrow: Back by popular demand! Albert Frey’s 1931 Aluminaire House and Its Influence on American Modernism: In celebration of the groundbreaking for the 1931 Aluminaire House, Leo Marmol will explore the impact this structure had on American Modernism design. A reception follows in the sculpture garden. Annenberg Theatre. 1 pm Charles Phoenix: Big Retro Trailer Slide Show Live On Stage! A spirited live performance celebrating classic and kitschy midcentury mobile homes and vintage travel trailers. Annenberg Theatre. 3 pm Shop the Modernism Fall Show The 9th annual Palm Springs Modernism Fall Show, held during Modernism Week – October, will open Friday evening, October 20, and feature dealers new to the show and returning dealers that have participated in previous shows. The Fall Show returns with 45 premier national and international exhibitors offering the BEST of midcentury and modern design. This popular show, which runs October 20-22, will be held in the Palm Springs Convention Center, located at 277 North Avenida Caballeros. It is a more intimate version of the annual Palm Springs Modernism Show held in February. Opening Night Party On Friday evening, October 20, attendees are invited to attend the festive Opening Night Party and Early Buying Preview Reception at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The Friday night party offers the perfect opportunity for attendees to shop directly from dealers before the show opens to the public on Saturday. Tickets are available in advance for $95 or at the door for $110 and include daily re-entry to the show.
