About

Gelato Granucci is located in central downtown on Palm Canyon Drive in the Amado Center.

They bring the Art of Gelato, a family tradition since 1929, to Palm Springs. Owned and operated by Simonetta “Sam” Rainieri and Tom Allen, this is the Coachella Valley location of a third-generation family business.

In 1929, Sam’s grandparents emigrated from Italy to start one of, if not the first, Italian gelato shops in the Netherlands. Today, her uncle Edi and cousin Didi continue to run Gelato Granucci in Holland, supplying gelato to over 50 shops. Edi won the Coppa D’oro, one of the most prestigious gelato making awards, in 1996. Sam and Tom are now bringing that tradition and history to the US.

All the flavors are made in-house, from scratch, using the techniques handed down by Edi and Didi. In addition to gelato, they offer dairy-free sorbets and refreshing granitas. The gelato can also be enjoyed in a pop, macaroon sandwich, cake, or pie. They serve espresso, cappuccino, latte, americano, and affogato (espresso with gelato)!
