Luxury Colonial Revival Style Hotel Rises Again in Palm Springs
The majestic Triada Hotel sits on corner along Indian Canyon Drive in the Movie Colony. Newly remodeled as a Marriot Autograph Collection Hotel, this space is once again reclaiming its place in Palm Springs history as a place of luxury. The sprawling, boutique hotel is sure to attract people who seek privacy, relaxation and retreat space.
The original structure was a private residence built in 1929. Now there are two additional Spanish Colonial Revival buildings, thus the name “Triada," meaning three interrelated parts.
Each building of the hotel has its own ambiance, and is connected to the other buildings by winding paths. As one walks these paths, there are views of the mountains, seating areas, fire pits, potted plants and balconies that beckon one to take a picture.
Guests have a choice of freshwater or saltwater pool. Custom daybeds, chaise lounges, cabanas, and a raised sundeck for those who want to get away from the sounds of people enjoying a swim. Want a drink? No problem, there are bars at both pools.
The rooms are elegant, roomy and classy. Unusual tiles serve as the focal point of the large bathrooms. Nineteen of the 56 rooms, are suites and are equipped with full kitchens, suitable for any chef. On the counter and in the refrigerator, one can find local vendors snacks and drinks, such as Brandini Poppers.
Each room is equipped to handle hi-tech devices. In fact, an iPad sits next to each bed and can be used for room service. (Yes, there is still is a telephone in each room.)
The 19 suites are the perfect size for small retreats. The bedrooms are off by themselves and the living area is complete with sofas and tables where people could easily gather around for brainstorming or strategic planning. Management has people on staff that can help you if you need additional equipment.
Breakfast is served seven days a week, 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Lluminara Restaurant is expected to open the first part of February with cuisine they are calling “true California style.”
Since the hotel has only been open for six and half weeks with this writing, things such as spa services, nightly music and are evolving. Check their websites for updates. Don’t expect to walk the grounds on your own if you are not a guest. As the manager so caringly pointed out, we value our clients’ privacy.
One does wonder what the buildings and surroundings would say to guests if they could talk for this was a playground for many of the Hollywood stars. In any case, Palm Springs is truly "Like No Place Else” and fits the description of this new/old addition to the hospitality scene.
