  1. Palm Springs Aerial Tramway (Dec. 19 - Jan. 3): Experience the best view in the city during special holiday hours. The first tram goes up at 8 a.m., the last tram goes up at 8 p.m., and the last tram down leaves at 9:45 p.m.  

  1. WildLights at the Living Desert (Dec. 17 - Dec. 31): Stroll through the Tunnel of Lights, ride the trackless train, and visit with Santa Clause during select dates at the Palm Springs' area's premier zoo and botanical gardens. 

  1. Robolights (through Jan. 8): Sci-fi fans will be dazzled with this shining display of creative work. Viewing the installation is free, but donations are accepted. 

  1. Night Scare Before Christmas (Dec. 18-19, 7:30-10:30 p.m.): Bring the family for a spook-tacular haunted house experience hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs. Bring an unwrapped toy for a child for $5 off your ticket price.  

  1. Little Stars and “Holiday in Palm Springs” (Dec. 19, 7-9 p.m.): Join the Little Stars World Champion Girls Choir and the Palm Springs Orchestra for a free concert at the Palm Springs Christmas Tree in Francis Stevens Park.  

  1. Weekend Yoga and Meditation at The Avalon (Saturdays & Sundays, 8-10 a.m.): Take a break with a stress-relieving yoga or meditation class. Yoga begins at 8 a.m. and meditation begins at 9 a.m. Both classes are free and open to all levels. 

  1. Free Thursday Nights at Palm Springs Art Museum (4-8 p.m.): Enjoy the museum on Thursday evenings for free, courtesy of the City of Palm Springs. 

  1. Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture & Design Center: The newest campus of the Palm Springs Art Museum is free to the public through July 2017, thanks to an anonymous donor. 

  1. Palm Springs VillageFest (Thursdays 6-10 p.m., excluding Christmas Eve and New Years Eve): Finish last-minute shopping at this outdoor street fair downtown. Admission's free, and it's dog-friendly! 

  1. Explore Downtown on the BUZZ (Thursday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-1 a.m.): Explore the city of Palm Springs with the family for free on the BUZZ trolley. The BUZZ makes 30 stops around downtown Palm Springs and runs on Christmas day!
