Ace Hotel & Swim Club is an oasis in the desert. Built on the foundation of a 1965 Howard Johnson hotel, it remarries style with substance, focusing on elegance and luxury with a low-key, relaxed vibe. Guests can dine at King's Highway — a fresh, reimagined roadside diner by the folks from Brooklyn's Five Leaves — grab some tacos by the pool or sip on a smoothie from the Short Bus. The menus at our eating and drinking spots focus on fresh ingredients, bold desert flavor and all of the influences of old world California. Sunbathe and stargaze by our two big pools, or soak in the warm botanicals of Feel Good Spa. We feature a vintage photobooth, award-winning room service and a well-equipped gym. Bring your kids, bring your dog— we're family and pet-friendly. Every room comes equipped with robes for lounging, vintage modern furniture and a walking stick for hikes in the mighty San Jacintos. Some rooms have a garden patio and some have a fireplace. Some have record players and old vinyl you can play in your room and take home with you. There's fragrant shampoo from Rudy's Barbershop, and minibars with addictive caramel popcorn. The design is organic bohemian, with vintage mid-century furniture throughout and a giant rope sculpture in the lobby. We collaborate with friends to curate music for the lobby and poolside, and on weekends there's a DJ scene at the pool. Almost every night there's something going on at the Amigo Room — live music, DJs, bingo, karaoke and the occasional special event. We have been called a boutique hotel, and we're not sure what that means. We only know what feels good and what looks good and what this place means to us.
