“MEN AT WORK”
Drag performers have captivated audiences for ages with their glamorous looks and riveting performances. “MEN AT WORK,” a photo exhibit by photographer Mike Thomas, celebrates the ladies of drag and the men behind them. His photographs capture the behind-the-scenes transformation of men from Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and Las Vegas into their fabulous female alter-egos. Each story is as unique as the individuals portrayed. Come by for an inside look at these fabulous entertainers who create these remarkable illusions—and let them entertain you.
The exhibit will be presented at Azul Tapas Lounge, in the heart of downtown Palm Springs, Friday through Sunday, August 17–19. The exhibit will be open to the public upstairs in Georgie’s Alibi Video Bar Café and Patio (elevator accessible) all three days. There will be a VIP reception with the photographer and some of the performers Saturday evening (5:30 – 7:30 pm; $5 suggested donation at the door, proceeds going to charity). Also on Saturday evening, some of the men depicted in the photos will perform a lively drag show, hosted by Bella da Ball, in the downstairs lounge (dinner 6:30 pm, show 8:00 pm; reservations recommended). Performers include Cher Javier, Jersey Shore, Mercedez Elektra, Miss Barbie Q, Ashley Sparks, Pinkie Meringue Shimmer, Sassy Ross, and more. These performers are all featured in the photo series along with many others like Willam from RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Judy Show’s Michael Holmes, actor Jim. J. Bullock, Larry Edwards from DIVAS Las Vegas, and more! Choose from full menu options with a $10 cover charge for the show or a $35 prix-fixe dinner and show. A disco brunch will be served in the downstairs lounge on Sunday.
