The Uptown Design District continues to evolve into a fun, innovative part of town and one of the most glamorous additions to the neighborhood is the Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge. (The name reflects its location, 849 North Palm Canyon.) Ever since its debut in September 2015, the place has been packed with diners enjoying the diverse menu, as well as a festive, unconventional layout that’s been cleverly designed to include a lounge/bar area, the Grand Corridor, and multiple private dining rooms—each with its own stylish mix of colorful furniture and artwork. There’s also a large, inviting patio with views of the San Jacinto Mountains.

In addition to its eclectic menu, Eight4Nine has a host of creative, must-try cocktails. Where to start? “We suggest the Eight4Nine, especially during the summer,” says Willie Rhine, co-owner of the restaurant. “It is very cool and refreshing—a summer favorite.”

CocktailThe drink is prepared with Crater Lake Vodka, chilled Mionetto Prosecco, Limoncello, Mandarine Napoléon, and muddled with fresh strawberry.

“Keeping within the summer theme, I would accompany our Eight4Nine cocktail with a half Ahi Niçoise Salad,” adds Rhine. Its ingredients include ahi tuna seared rare, haricots vert, roasted baby potatoes, niçoise olives, a farm egg, and capers all tossed in a lemon tarragon vinaigrette. The dish is also gluten free.
