Palm Springs Welcomes a New Fashion Festival!

If fashion is your passion – dont' miss the new Palm Springs International Fashion Festival, April 1 – 3.  It's a first-ever fashion bash, sponsored by the Palm Springs Fashion Council, and promises to be a frenzy of avant guard runway shows, art and live entertainment – as only Palm Springs can create.  As you know, Palm Springs has been a style-setter for as long as Hollywood stars have been partying here – and this will be the first time resident designers and international fashionistas come together to celebrate in high style.

And best of all – everything is for sale!

“This will be an amazing shopping opportunity,” Aubrey Ward, fashion designer and president of the Palm Springs Fashion Council, told me.  Apparel, jewelry, handbags, shoes and accessories galore from Palm Springs fabulous boutiques and designers will all be for sale -- under one roof!

For future shopping sprees, plans will be unveiled for the new Downtown Palm Springs Fashion District, to include all those fabulous shops along Palm Canyon Drive between Amado Road and Tahquitz Canyon Way.

Additional highlights include a runway show featuring the newspaper dress and new collection of 17-year-old fashion phenome Stephanie J. Green of Los Angeles. She shot to fashion fame last year, after crafting a homecoming dance party dress of salvaged newspapers. She was quickly whisked off to star at Sweden’s Fashion Week, Ward said. Palm Springs’ red carpet designer Christian Mendoza will be rolling out his latest celebrity-favorite styles as part of The Wardrobe (a Palm Springs fashion institution, with past customers including Lucille Ball, Liz Taylor and other Palm Springs glamour legends) Fashion Show Extravaganza.

Season 5 American Idol Contestant Miss Stevie Scott heads the line-up of sizzling performers, singers and dancers.

Don’t miss the after-parties at Cafe Couture – the perfect setting to extend the fun – and show off your new buys.

It's all happening at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door. For details, see Palm Springs International Fashion Festival
