Palm Springs is so hip – it’s inspired a new scent and a new line of spa products. In a unique tribute to the legendary Palm Springs lifestyle, the Body Deli – the desert’s organic skin and body care pioneers – launched the new “Palm Springs Spa Collection,” featuring the first-ever Palm Springs-inspired fragrance.
Locally made from all natural, organic, local desert products, the scent of the new collection is designed to evoke the magic of Palm Springs unique lifestyle. David Parker, co-founder-owner of the Body Deli, describes it as “the sultry scent of Palm Springs at night, enjoying an evening under the stars listening to classic Rat Pack swing while sipping a fragrant cocktail."
“We spent much time and effort to capture the perfect fragrance of the casual, chic lifestyle the world has come to identify with Palm Springs,” he told me during the recent launch party at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs. The new line debuts The Body Deli’s first perfume – Parker is that in love with the scent and Palm Springs -- and lotion, oil, scrub and body wash formats. He’s lived the Palm Springs lifestyle since moving here in 2001 from Northern California and founding the Body Deli with local business partner Margaret Skarin. Loyal customers include celebrities Alicia Silverstone, Goldie Hawn, and Kate Hudson, he confided.
I smoothed on the new Las Palmas Blend body lotion (named after Palm Springs’ tony Las Palmas neighborhood). The scent was heavenly. Fresh, light and softly floral with a kick of citrus. My skin absorbed the lotion instantly and the tantalizing aroma charmed me for hours. The Las Palmas blend is handmade in small batches with locally grown raw, fresh Medjool dates and aromatic grapefruit and blood oranges from the Coachella Valley, with vanilla, ginger and a hint of evening jasmine. Since it’s so fresh and pure, Parker recommends keeping it – and all the Body Deli products – refrigerated if you’re not using them immediately.
The line is exclusive to desert – another good reason to visit Palm Springs – right? The Feel Good Spa at the Ace Hotel Palm Springs is the only Palm Springs hotel spa that incorporates the new collection and other Body Deli products into its treatments and sells the products in its boutique. The Good Body Scrub ($120 for 60 minutes) uses the tantalizing Palm Springs Collection scrub.
You can also find the Palm Springs Spa Collection at Raymond I Lawrence in the Palm Springs Uptown Design District, at the Body Deli boutique in Palm Desert, and – if you can’t make it out for a Palm Springs weekend -- online at www.thebodydeli.com. Retail prices range from $25 to $60.
