Summer golf can be a challenge in Palm Springs. With the heat of the day it takes careful scheduling to avoid the worst of the daytime sun. If you’re going to play, sometimes a great option for golf is a quick nine holes and a bite at one of the great clubs in Palm Springs. Here’s where to Nine and Dine.

Tahquitz Creek

1885 Golf Club Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92264, 760-328-1005

With sweeping views of the mountains, lush landscaping and two championship courses on site (the Legend course just celebrated its 50th anniversary) Tahquitz Creek is as beautiful as it is fun.

Their Back 9 and Breakfast is a great chance to play a quick nine holes to start the day before it gets too hot. Legend back nine rates include breakfast which is served from 6 am to 10 am daily. Price varies depending on time of year but expect to pay from $19 to $29.

On this stunning course you’ll find plenty of water, and hundreds of palm trees, making it a favourite with out of town visitors. Keep your eyes peeled for one of the 500 Washingtonia Filifera, a cherished tree of the Agua Caliente Native American tribe.

Once considered a hidden gem off the beaten path to Coachella Valley visitors, today, Indian Canyons can be found right in the heart of all the action in Palm Springs.

Why not start your day playing the #6 Public Course in California? (as ranked by PGATOUR.com). Escena’s Nicklaus Design golf course is  ringed by the San Jacinto mountains and filled with native plants and trees.

Escena has summer rate specials, but will be resuming its popular Nine and Dine program with a twist in mid-November. At Escena, nine holes comes with a $25 gift card for the restaurant and the card can be used any time; breakfast, lunch or dinner. Pricing runs from $55-65 and Escena Club Card holders get $10 discount on top of that.

Interestingly the course also has a partnership that’s tailor made for visitors and tourists without wheels; the club will arrange pickup and drop off of you and your clubs via Lyft so there’s no need to worry about cabs or car rentals.
