Get ready Canadians! Fly direct from Toronto to Palm Springs

Seasonal service from Ontario begins December 2016

Western Canadians know what a jewel Palm Springs is. A short direct flight from many major cities in the Canadian west, Palm Springs is a popular getaway, because a chilly Canuck can be among the palm trees in about three hours.

Now, easterners are going to get their chance to discover this desert city more conveniently, thanks to a new seasonal route from Air Canada Rouge.

In April of this year, Air Canada announced it was launching the new service, which it says will give Canadian travellers more competitively-priced options when flying to sun destinations. The airline will begin flying Toronto to Palm Springs on December 14, 2016.

“Canada is a large market for Palm Springs and we are excited to welcome more visitors from the eastern part of the country,” said Mary Jo Ginther, Director of Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism in a news release. “Flying into Palm Springs is like no place else, with an open-air airport, stunning mountain vistas, year round sunshine and gorgeous weather, you immediately feel the relaxed vibe and warmth of the surroundings.”

The average temperature in Palm Springs in winter is a balmy 24C, compared to Toronto’s -1C.

While western Canadians already know about Palm Springs mid-century modern leanings and desert minimalist aesthetics, plus its storied Hollywood legacy, and amazing outdoor activities and attractions, now it will be easier for Ontarians to experience the same.

Toronto to Palm Springs service begins December 14, 2016 with flight AC1827 and operates three times per week departing Toronto at 9:15am on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday arriving in Palm Springs at 11:26am.

Return flight AC1826 departs Palm Springs at 12:15 and arrives in Toronto at 7:30pm. Service wraps up for the season on April 16, 2017.

Flights will be operated by Air Canada Rouge, and are timed to offer easy connections to/from Canada’s east coast, Quebec and even international destinations like Delhi and Dubai!
