To commemorate the 50th anniversary celebration of Marilyn Monroe’s life, Palm Springs is celebrating her legacy with an outdoor film series, a tribute concert and special hotel packages.
Marilyn Monroe will be remembered in Palm Springs on August, 5, with a tribute concert marking the 50th anniversary of her passing. Las Vegas entertainer Jeffrey Allen, best known for his performances as Sir Elton John in the review “Legends in Concert” will headline the free, one hour show at the Forever Marilyn sculpture at the corner of Palm Canyon Drive and Tahquitz Canyon Way beginning at 6:30 PM.
During the course of the year, Marilyn fans can visit a 26-foot tall statue of the blonde bombshell in her iconic white dress located in downtown Palm Springs on the corner of Palm Canyon Drive and Tahquitz Canyon Way where she will be on display through June 2013. The dramatic statue by American artist Seward Johnson represents one of the most famous images of Marilyn Monroe, taken from the film “The Seven Year Itch.”
