Celebrate the “12 Days of Christmas” in Palm Springs, December 1-12, 2011 with quintessential holiday performances, celebrity tree lightings, holiday shopping and dining specials. Signature events include the Festival of Lights Parade with special guest, Carol Channing as Celebrity Grand Marshal, and the “Walk of the Inns,” a self-guided tour of historic and boutique inns decorated for the holidays. 

 

During the first twelve days of December, twelve participating restaurants are offering diners an exclusive bottle of Gerard Bertrand Cremant Brut 2008 or Zardetto Convento Prosecco for only $5.00 a bottle, which is perfect for gift giving too. For every bottle sold, the restaurant will donate $1.00 to the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Springs. Participating restaurants include: Circa 59; Chop House Palm Springs; Copleys; Escena; Grind Brgr Bar; Kaiser Grille; Pomme Frite; Rio Azul; Trio; Tropicale; Zin American Bistro; and Zini Cafe Mediterrano.

Holiday Tree Lighting – City of Palm Springs

City of Palm Springs’ spectacular Christmas tree lighting ceremony at downtown’s Frances Stevens Park featuring traditional Christmas carols from the Palm Springs High School Choir, a visit from Santa on a fire truck and more. Tree lighting ceremony is from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. www.ci.palm-springs.ca.us

CK Dance Company presents The Nutcracker

A quintessential holiday ballet with three performances of Tchaikovsky's beloved classic. The Nutcracker will be at The Annenberg Theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum on December 3 at 3 p.m. and December 4 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.  www.psmuseum.org

Aerial Tramway Annual Tree Lighting

Actor and comedian Ronnie Schell will be the Celebrity Tree Lighter at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Festivities begin at the Mountain Station at 5:30pm with the Palm Springs High School Choir singing a selection of holiday songs. When the tree is lit it can be seen throughout the Coachella Valley. www.pstramway.com
