In the heart of downtown Palm Springs, Stewart Galleries beautifully integrates California, southwest and European fine art with international designer chosen furniture and accessories. The prime location is perfect for all savvy visitors, residents, art collectors and interior designers.  Owner Phil Kieffer promotes an atmosphere of eloquent taste with the comfort and easygoing nature of the Palm Springs lifestyle.

“Stewart Galleries already had a long and venerable history when my late partner and I acquired it in 2001.  We’ve honored that history by expanding the gallery to quadruple its size and vastly expand its inventory, continuing to focus on vintage California plein air landscapes, but also carrying more American and European paintings and sculpture by “listed” established artists, many with a more modern bent.," Phil Kieffer says.
"We also expanded the estate furnishings inventory, lighting and decorative accessories available for an increasing demand from nationally known design professionals as well as our loyal following of design conscious collectors from the Coachella Valley and beyond that have been our mainstay over the years,” added Kieffer.

The gallery’s variety of good artwork transcends the significance of how well known a particular artist may be. Each piece of art is a perfect representation of a particular genre that is placed with exquisite furniture and other objects that may not replicate the same period, but are cleverly arranged to show symmetrical elements of design.  Therefore, Stewart Galleries is an excellent place to discover art and furnishings that go together in an unexpected way.

Phil Kieffer says, “We like to attract customers who would find visiting our gallery as natural as going to the movies or visiting a museum. It must be entertaining and affordable, but the advantage is that by visiting our galleries, there is a good chance that they will see pieces of art and other objects that they can provide good homes for and these items become important parts of their lives for many years. In order to achieve that goal, we’ve made our galleries eclectic to appeal to a broad range of people without ignoring the timeless classics that people feel at home with.  The depth and breadth of our collection makes the gallery unique in the Coachella Valley and all of southern California.”

With many styles of art by artists who are not all famous, Stewart Galleries has sold paintings locally and shipped them out across the world. As far as Kieffer’s favorite artists who have been prolific, he mentions: “California artists who painted here in the desert during the early to mid-20th century, including Paul Grimm, John W. Hilton, James “Jimmy” Swinnerton, and Stephen Willard.”

Plus other top-selling artwork includes “European Modernists: Charles Levier, Rene Couturier and Phillipe Marchand.”

There are two local artists Phil Kieffer includes as top seller favorites,“Palm Springs artists who have established a good following are Mike Humphrey and Lucio Villa.”

A very chic and fun Palm Springs spot to visit, where Stewart Galleries owner Phil Kieffer shares California with European designs with classy European art and distinctive paintings of California and Palm Springs artists.
