New Show: The Edge Concert Series Rocks

Slick Monthly Musical Productions Keep Things Pumping at The Hard Rock Hotel

“We have assembled the most talented crew ever to perform in Palm Springs,” beams Trini Garza of Troupe Productions, the producers of the Hard Rock Hotel’s new monthly rock musical stage extravaganza series called The Edge.

“Our cast has performed on television, Broadway, and on stages across the world. We are lucky to have this type of talent all on one stage at the amazing new Hard Rock Hotel right in the center of downtown Palm Springs.”When the Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs debuted last October, the locals were, in a word, gobsmacked. No one could have foreseen that the  Hotel Zoso would transform into the chic Hard Rock Hotel, now one of the hippest pads in the desert. The 163-room property is home to a poolside “aquatic dance floor,” sexy lobby DJs spinning inside a huge art sculpture of hundreds of used speakers, and the very costumes worn by rock royalty of the ages like Lady Gaga, Elvis, and Elton John adorning the walls.

True to its name, Hard Rock is all about the music. About a month after opening, the resort hired Troupe Productions to debut its original series of themed concert shows inside the hotel’s 300-seat Woodstock Room. Even the name reverberates with rock star bravado: The Edge Series - The Next Generation of Entertainment.

If you’re thinking The Edge Series is some sort of hey-let’s-put-on-a-show community theater, you’d be sorely mistaken. The Edge’s producers hold a deep resume in film production and musical artist management, and they also were behind launching both the Hard Rock’s inaugural Palm Springs Fashion Weekend and the Feartastic Horror Film Festival last year.

Up-and-coming young performers from L.A.’s and NYC’s stages and screens rock these slick professional themed concerts. The shows never stale since their month-long shelf life of half-dozen or so performances keeps the series perpetually fresh and new.

In other words, don’t procrastinate to buy tickets, since certain Edge performances have already sold out and a given show will pass you by before you even realize it!

Last year, Edge debuted “Top Rock” – an eclectic tribute concert to the hits of The Beatles, Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses
, and other classic rock bands – and a robust end-of-year show called “Rockin’ The Holiday” featuring Christmas songs from Sting and Mariah Carey, among other famous names.

Now that word has got out about the expert caliber of The Edge shows, there’s built-up anticipation for the next one. What was originally planned as a one-time show last New Year’s Eve, “Rockin’ The Gatsby” showcased dancers and singers in 1920s garb and a live band performing soundtrack hits from Baz Lurhmann’s 2013 film The Great Gatsby with songs by Lana Del Rey, Jay-Z & Kanye West, and Fergie, in addition to tunes from the ‘20s-era Broadway production The Wild Party.

For the New Year’s performance, VH1 and LOGO TV reality star Rodiney Santiago joined the cast, and his Brazilian hunkiness helped ramp up the sex appeal factor of the show. (Gratuitous see-through shirt photo below.)

The one-off show was such an audience hit, "Rockin' the Gatsby" is now being brought back beginning February 14th and for five shows until March 1st – during which the Hard Rock’s Woodstock Room will again transform into a 1920s speakeasy.

'Rockin’ The Gatsby is a night of sensory excess with seductive era costumes and booming confetti cannons,” gushes producer Trini Garza. “It’s our best and wildest production to date.”

The Edge is offering a Gatsby show and dinner package deal
, with a sumptuous prix fixe menu served the on-site Sessions restaurant with caviar and grilled oysters (served with a side of gin mignonette, but of course).

For the rest of 2014, The Edge teases us with these details of upcoming productions:

“One of our most innovative productions, HEAD TRIP is a mind-blowing work of illusion and wonder ... a Criss Angel meets Steven Tyler experience in a live spectacle like no other!”

“In honor of Palm Springs famed Dinah Shore weekend, our sexy cast of stellar performers take you on a sensual escape as they rock the night away in this all female “GIRL-ROCK” revue. Featuring the music of Janis Joplin, Heart, Melissa Etheridge, and more.”
Dates To Be Announced – DUSK
“Sexy costumes, choreography, and vocal arrangements are just the tip of the iceberg in our most sensual stage production. This edgy, sexy pop/rock review will purely excite and stimulate the senses with a cast who definitely are no strangers to the thrill...”

Dates To Be Announced – IMPACT
“Blue Man Group meets Stomp in this high-energy urban rock production! Rockin’ vocals and intricate, rhythmic industrial choreography, all executed with some of today’s hottest live musicians…”

Dates To Be Announced – ROCK ON BROADWAY
"Featuring songs from some of Broadway’s hottest contemporary shows, including ‘Rock of Ages,’ ‘Spring Awakening,’ ‘Rent,’ ‘Spiderman,’ and more! This full-scale production will celebrate the season of The Tonys...”
